"April and May 2010 will go down as one of the most exciting periods in the continued growth of MOVE. In particular, we are delighted to announce the following additions to our business."

Container Transport

April saw the introduction of our first MOVE dedicated container vehicles onto Christchurch’s roads.

This complements our existing Christchurch container trailer fleet as well as our container capability in Auckland. It also further widens the range of services that we are able to offer our customers.

This aspect of our business is being ably managed by Danny Edmonds, and he can be contacted on 0274 656 882 for any container transport that we can help you with.

UHT Milk Transportation

MOVE has recently concluded negotiations with Fonterra Brands for the transportation of their UHT milk products in Christchurch.

This has seen the addition of a dedicated tractor unit and semi trailers that shuttle finished product from the UHT plant in Blenheim Road to both MOVE’s and Fonterra Brands Hornby Distribution Centres.

This is an almost around the clock operation running seven days a week, and is yet another strengthening of our relationships with Fonterra.

Independent Liquor

Independent Liquor is well known as one of the more prominent players in the beverage scene in New Zealand, and is the country’s leading producer of ready to drink (RTD) products.

We worked with Independent on a recent review of their supply chain in the South Island and were pleased to be selected as their successful logistics partner going forward.

The range of services that we provide to this new customer covers the full range of warehousing, order fulfilment and delivery to customer tasks.

PlaceMakers, Riccarton

We are pleased to announce the addition of a fleet of crane trucks into our Christchurch business, following the successful gaining of the delivery-to-customer/building site business with PlaceMakers Riccarton branch.

This is the largest PlaceMakers operation in the country and our success here followed a full review carried out jointly with the local PlaceMakers team of their distribution needs.

The addition of crane trucks into our fleet is an exciting development for MOVE,and adds yet another service offering to our range.

MOVE Launches Line-Haul

In what has been a very successful joint initiative between the MOVE Auckland team and our Carter Holt Harvey partners, we now have a dedicated evening line-haul run from Auckland to Kinleith return each weekday.

Traditionally MOVE has been a “metro” delivery service provider in both Auckland and Christchurch, with this service running alongside our extensive warehousing operations.

However, when the call came for us to assist Carter Holt Harvey with their delivery needs between their Auckland Case and Kinleith plants we were more than happy to step up to the line.

This development allows us to drive some significant utilisation gains with our Auckland metro fleet, using that very same equipment to the benefit of both us and our customer.

Feedback from both teams has been very positive about this initiative, and it may well be a forerunner of other similar longer distance transport activity for us in the future...

June 2009

MOVE Extends Auckland Reach

MOVE has been successful in gaining a new piece of transport business in Auckland, completing metro deliveries for the Carter Holt Harvey Case business out of their Mangere plant.

This sees the addition of three further MOVE vehicles onto Auckland’s roads and is a further strengthening of our long standing relationship with Carter Holt Harvey in the South Island.

Our Auckland fleet has now grown to over 15 trucks, plus trailers etc and this gives us a significant foothold in the Auckland transport market.

The Warehouse Group

MOVE now has responsibility for the cartage of The Warehouse Groups containers from the port of Lyttelton to their Distribution Centre in Rolleston.

In order to drive efficiency with our fleet we converted two rigid truck and trailer combinations to tractor unit and B trains. This allows us to complete deliveries to The Warehouse’s various stores around Christchurch in the mornings using curtain-sided B trains, and then to carry-out container deliveries to their Distribution Centre in the afternoon using he same prime mover but towing skeletal trailers.

The end result is a far more effectively utilised fleet and a more efficient service for our customer.

Christchurch Logistics Centre

We completed the much-anticipated move to our new Logistics Centre in Hornby, Christchurch, in late April.

This is the culmination of a considerable amount of effort and energy from the MOVE team and the operation is now up and running at full speed.

While the facility is targeted primarily at the food/grocery/FMCG sector, there is considerable storage space for any number of product types, with a final capacity being in excess of 13,000 pallet positions.

March 2009

Almost there!

MOVE’s new facility is now very close to completion. With the warehouse complete, and the finishing touches being put on the purpose-built office complex, April 2009 will see customer products and office staff move into the facility.

As this new facility has such a high stud, a new fleet of high-reach trucks complete with operator cameras has been sourced specifically for MOVE, and April 2009 will see the delivery of this highly anticipated equipment.

December 2008

Taking Shape!

September 2008

Site works have just commenced at the Sir James Wattie Drive, Hornby, development of MOVE’s new Logistics Centre.

This facility will include the following features

The facility will be constructed to export-dairy standard. This means that the build specification will exceed the usual food grade standard and be up to full export quality.

Completion is anticipated for March 2009 and we will, at that stage, be migrating a number of our customers over to the new facility.

This is an exciting and strong step by MOVE, and will give us yet another option for our existing and prospective customers to consider. It also further strengthens our Distribution Centre network in the South Island.

MOVE wins top award

At the recent Lion Nathan Liquor Supplier of the Year awards ceremony in Auckland MOVE Logistics took out the top logistics award - "Logistics Supplier of the Year".

Every year Lion Nathan Liquor measures the performance of all their key logistics service providers over a number of categories, before arriving at their decision on who stands out from the pack.MOVE ticked all the right boxes from service level through to innovative approach, staff capability and passion for the business.

This is a major award for us to have won in the face of stiff competition from some of Australasia's largest logistics operators, and we're all obviously delighted to have received this recognition - coming from one of New Zealand's leading manufacturers and iconic brands.

MOVE Goes Coast to Coast

This years Coast to Coast event (in which competitors cycle, kayak and run from the West Coast of New Zealand's South Island to the East Coast) was again sponsored by Lion Breweries through their Speight's brand.

In the last 18 months MOVE has put a number of branded trucks on the road as part of our Lion contract, including three carrying Speight's signage.

Lion approached MOVE's Christchurch Lion Transport Manager, Shaun Wilson, prior to this year's event to gain MOVE's support through the use of one of our Speight's vehicles.

On Thursday February 7th Shaun piloted one of our Speight's vehicles from Christchurch to Kumara on the South Island's West Coast to be there for registration day.

While at Kumara the Speight's promotion team distributed some of their new Speight's beer handles to members of the various support crews, as well as to other supporters from the deck of our truck.

Friday saw us travelling through to Klondyke corner to follow the participants in Day One of the two day event and be at the finish line for the completion of that first day.

Once at Klondyke we, again, helped the Speight's promotions team to distribute various Speight's products from the back of our vehicle.

In addition, Lion had a mobile Speight's Ale House following the event and this worked in tandem with our truck to distribute some of Speight's finest beers (part of our responsibility was to carry a number of kegs of Speight's product).

Saturday saw our two Speight's branded trucks travel to the finish line at Sumner (a suburb of Christchurch on the South Island's East Coast) - the finish line for the event.

Throughout the three days of the race the MOVE team played a significant part in the various logistics tasks that running such an event entails, and our team was delighted to have been a part of the 2008 Coast to Coast!

Auckland on the "MOVE"

Hot on the heels of the launch of MOVE's business with Lion Nathan Liquor in Christchurch comes news of a similar move in the Auckland market.

Effective from 18 June 2007 MOVE has been awarded the metro delivery-to-customer business for Lion's beer, wines, spirits and ready-to-drink products in greater Auckland, including the busy CBD.

This sees twelve MOVE vehicles, including subcontractors, at work in Auckland along with nearly 30 new MOVE team members.

The strong performance of our Christchurch Lion Nathan team was instrumental in Lion having the confidence to award MOVE their Auckland business, and we have already delivered strong performance and efficiency gains for our customer in both centres.

Central to our gaining this new business with Lion has not only been the great work done by our Christchurch Lion fleet but, also, the experience that we were able to bring into the Auckland operation. Notable in this is the welcome return of Lucky Lopesi, Jason Kelly and Paula Gardner to assist with Lion's supply chain.

MOVE now has a strong foothold in the Auckland market, and we already have other transport, storage and logistics projects under way.

MOVE forms key partnership with Lion Nathan Liquor

There will be some smart new hardware arriving on Christchurch roads in the next few weeks as MOVE extends its fleet to accommodate the delivery needs of Lion Nathan Liquor.

This is new business for MOVE, and was gained after we had demonstrated our capability through a three-month period where we tested and trialed different vehicle types with Lion.

Our gain here will see us entering into a long term partnership with one of New Zealand's leading Corporates, and will see our team handling some truly iconic brands, including Steinlager, Speight's and the full range of Mac's ales - along with an extensive group of wines and spirits brands.

Deliveries will be completed by a dedicated fleet that will include some vehicles wearing the latest in Lion branding. In total MOVE will now have 11 vehicles working in the greater Christchurch metropolitan area, and our profile will continue to build as a result.

Lion's decision to partner with MOVE is a great vote of confidence in our ability to provide customised logistics solutions for any customer - big or small.

January 2007

MOVE gains NZFSA Approval for the handling of export dairy products.

The team at MOVE have recently succeeded in gaining NZFSA approval to manage the logistics of export dairy products.

This has seen us complete an extensive Risk Management Programme covering two of our sites, as well as train our team on the differing needs of managing export grade products.

The programme covers all aspects of the operation from documentation through to stringent housekeeping practices, and is subject to external audits on a regular basis.

Export orders for our customers are loaded into containers at our sites using a forklift-mounted "Push/Pull" unit, which allows us to load containers without any wooden pallets being sent with the container.

This is an exciting development for our business, and widens even further our Service Offering to our customers.

Feel free to talk to our team if you would like more details on our capability in this area.

July 2006

Following on from the commissioning of our second Logistics Centre in 2005, we have now opened a third site at 620 Halswell Junction Road, Hornby, Christchurch.

This will allow us to accommodate the South Island warehousing needs of both Bluebird Foods Limited and the Grocery division of Goodman Fielder New Zealand Limited - contracts that were awarded to MOVE Logistics in March 2006.

This is an exciting development for MOVE and is a strong vote of confidence in our ability to deliver effective Supply Chain Solutions to some of Australasia's leading food, grocery and FMCG companies.

The new operation will be managed and manned by a mix of existing and new MOVE personnel, and we welcome them and our new customers to the MOVE team.

August 2005

Increased demand for our services has seen us expand onto a new site, at 778 Halswell Junction Road, Christchurch.Like our primary site at Shands Road, this new facility is in the heart of the Hornby/Sockburn area, Christchurch’s logistics and transport hub.
